A short film created in collaboration with Kong Lu for Yesler SPF Film Festival 2021 following the theme “Tide”. Ultra Titans tells the epic short story of a battle between two iconic Japanese titans, only to be revealed as part of a young boy’s imagination as he plays with his action figures on the beach.

The concept came from Kong reminiscing on his childhood, when he’d create stories and battle scenes on the beaches of Vietnam with his Ultraman, Astroboy, and Godzilla action figures.

Style Frames

Kong created the style frames and collaborated on the storyboard. My role was animator, editor, and compositor. The assets and frame-by-frame animations were created in Photoshop and composited in After Effects. The film was animated in four weeks and won the People’s Choice Award at the festival.
